Rectangle

What is rectangle? Rectangle is a Euclidean plane geometry shape with sides and four right angles. The word rectangle comes from the Latin "rectangulus", which is a combination of "rectus" (right) and "angulus" (angle).A rectangle is cyclic meaning all corners lie on a single circle. Note that for quadrilateral to be rectangle it needs to have the following properties.

- Opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel and congruent (same length)

- The angles of a rectangle are all 90 degrees or right triangle

- The diagonals divides the rectangle in half and they are congruent

From the above image the

W = Width of the rectangle. Both width are equal
l = Length of the rectangle. Both lengths are equal.
p = Diagonal of the rectangle.
q = Diagonal of the rectangle

Rectangle Formula:

Below are some important formulas for calculating parts of rectangle.

Rectangle Area Formula:
Area of a rectange is calculated by multiplying lengths with its width.

Area = length * width
A = L * W

Rectangle Perimeter Formula:
Perimeter of rectangle is simply the sum of all widths and lengths

Perimeter = (2 * Length) + (2 * Width)
P = 2L + 2W

Rectanlge Polygon Formula:
Polygon of a rectangle is simply square root of the perimeter.
q = √ (l 2 + w 2)

Use the Rectangle calculator above to calculate various parts of rectangle.
